Song: 16th Century Man
Sung by: Elton John
Completed: 3/4/05
Genre: multiple characters, humor
Subject: Sheppard and McKay
Summary: The saga of two reluctant heroes.

Why: Because I can apply just about every song on the Road to El Dorado soundtrack to one or the other of the Stargate shows, and this one with its emphasis on water was just begging to be done for these two. Like "You've Got a Friend in Me," it highlights the humor in the friendship between Rodney and John, but also their--often reluctant--heroism. To put it simply, I made it because I thought it would be fun, and I think I succeeded. :-)

Song: Christmastime
Sung by: Michael W. Smith
Completed: 12/15/04
Genre: holiday, multiple characters
Subject: Christmas in Atlantis
Summary: "Atlantis Base sends [Christmas] greetings from the Pegasus galaxy..."

Why: I wanted to do an Atlantis Christmas vid, and this song just clicked for me. Oh, and since it's no longer spoilery (unless you haven't seen season 1 yet), everyone can watch it this year. *grin* OFFLINE except during the holidays.

Song: Dante's Prayer
Sung by: Loreena McKennitt
Completed: 12/12/04
Genre: single character, introspective
Subject: Elizabeth Weir
Summary: Elizabeth's road to Atlantis and the sacrifices made.

Why: Elizabeth Weir is my favorite character on Atlantis, so I wanted to do a video about her. This song had several lines that made me think of her, especially in the wake of "Before I Sleep" (there is spoiler footage, btw), so I pounced on it. The instrumental intro, being so long, I decided to fill with clips showing her journey to Atlantis--what brought her there, and why. The rest is just an introspective look at the character and what she values. :-)

Song: Elevation
Sung by: U2
Completed: 11/23/04
Genre: episodic, action
Subject: "Rising"
Summary: My take on the pilot--it's all about the rising. *grin*

Why: Because I'm a sucker for a good pun: rising = elevation. ;-) Seriously, though, there's more to it than that. The beat of the song made a good action video, and I was able to find clips from the episode for every single lyric. It just seemed to fit. :-)

Song: Good Together
Sung by: SheDAISY
Completed: 01/31/05
Genre: romance, fluff
Subject: Sheppard/Weir
Summary: Everyone on Atlantis knows they're good together.

Why: I've been wanting to do a S/W video for a while now, and I personally feel it's too early for relationship angst. *g* So, I did a fun song instead, and was very pleased with how well I was able to make the clips fit the lyrics. Hope you guys enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it! :-)

Song: Latter Days
Sung by: Over the Rhine
Completed: 12/05/04
Genre: episodic, romance, angst
Subject: "Sanctuary," Chaya Sar and Chaya/John
Summary: The struggle between desire and obligation.

Why: Because I'm part of a very small minority that actually enjoyed this episode, and I wanted to try to express why I liked Chaya and her story.

Song: The Power of Love
Sung by: Huey Lewis and the News
Completed: 03/31/05
Genre: romance
Subject: Sheppard/Weir/McKay
Summary: Did somebody say OT3?

Why: This one has a funny story. I was listening to a tape of movie songs in the car one day, and out of the blue this idea just hit me. So I went home, and next time I was chatting with Clara, I mentioned it to her. (This was shortly after we agreed to collaborate on Tryin' to Find Atlantis.) She went very quiet for a moment, then came back with, "You're not going to believe this..." She'd had the same idea! Clara sweetly let me make it, but what more proof do you need that the song is perfect? *grin*

Song: Trying to Find Atlantis
Sung by: Jamie O'Neal
Vidded by: Clara and me
Completed: 01/25/05
Genre: single character, romance
Subject: Weir, Sheppard/Weir with a dash of Weir/various
Summary: Elizabeth's searched the universe for her soulmate...but is he right under her nose?

Why: First of all, I should point out that Clara did 90% of the work on this, but since she was kind enough to give me a co-creator credit, I'm going ahead and including it here. :-) We seem to have a knack for getting similar video bunnies, and this was a fun one. As for why...well, just look at the title of the song!

Song: When You Come Back to Me Again
Sung by: Garth Brooks
Completed: 03/17/05
Genre: romance, angst
Subject: Sheppard/Weir
Summary: They'll always find their way back to each other.

Why: Did I say it was too early for angst? That was clearly before I watched the whole season. *facepalm* Anyway, without giving too much away...once I finished the season I just had to do a video to this song. It was just too, too perfect and refused to let me go until I finished it. I hope you'll see why when you watch it. Ironically, in the years since I made it, the song choice *and* my summary have become somewhat bittersweet. *sigh*

Title: Wraithslayer
Song: Buffy the Vampire Slayer theme song
Performed by: Nerf Herder
Completed: 04/10/05
Genre: constructed reality, mild satire
Subject: Atlantis a la Joss Whedon
Summary: Meet Teyla, the Wraith Slayer, and her band of loyal sidekicks.

Why: What do you get when you combine insomnia, wacky crossover plotbunnies, and a desire to do a Teyla video but no idea what song to use? This video, even though it ended up not being all Teyla, but rather a Teyla-centric spoof of the opening credits for Buffy the Vampre Slayer, as it might've played out with the Atlantis cast. *grin* It's short, it's silly, it has some of my favorite clips of all time in it, and it was a blast to make. Hope it's half as much fun to watch.

Song: You've Got a Friend In Me
Sung by: Randy Newman
Completed: 12/17/04
Genre: friendship
Subject: Sheppard&McKay
Summary: John and Rodney are fast becoming friends whether they want to admit it or not.

Why: Because a little bird told me that this song was a favorite of Medie's, and she (Medie) asked for "anything Atlantis" for Christmas this year. So, here's a wish fulfilled, m'dear--a little something featuring your two favorite Atlantean boys! And oh yeah... the sentiment is from me to you too. *HUG*
